Geddit In...

Heard many times in Pattaya - ‘I know it’s available somewhere - the only question is where’.

As an aid to finding those products and/or services we are used to finding at our fingertips back in our ‘home’ countries but which we have to search for here, we list here where we found certain items or services.

Please note, this is not a guarantee that they will always be available at the named location, just that they were there when we last looked. Also, particularly in the case of services, it is not in any way a guarantee of quality or even a recommendation. We offer this information without prejudice whatsoever.

Do you know the location of a product or service you think might be useful to our Thailand readers? If so, why not tell us about it - a product photo wherever relevant would also be welcome. Please see the Contact Us page for where to send it

DSCN9945-200Mc Cain Super Fries - Chips you cook in the oven - no need for dangerous fat frying.

We found then in Foodland and also occasionally at Carrefour - although last time we checked there they only had Oven French fries - not the same.

DSCN9946-20002Branston Pickle - needs no further description.

Difficult to find in Pattaya, comes and goes in the smaller supermarkets.

Our good friends G&F found this bottle at Best Supermarket on Pattaya North Road.

DSCN9947-200Big Joe’s Homemade Pies - just like mother used to make (or perhaps father). Many fillings available.

We found a good supply in Friendship supermarket and also some stock at Foodmart in Jomtien.

In desperation you could try their bakery in Soi Rungland but we don’t know if they sell direct to the public from there - anyone know, please tell us.

Where can you get clothing alterations done? Many places. We found a lady who sits with a sewing machine at the corner (literally) of Thepprasit and Thappraya Roads in Jomtien.

CD Warehouse-200A good supply of DVDs (legal ones) is difficult to find in Thailand;  VCDs dominate the market here. We found a reasonable stock in CD Warehouse at the Emporium Centre in Bangkok and now we see they have opened a branch in Royal Garden Plaza - on the newly revamped 2nd floor - at the front on the way up to the new Food Wave eatatorium.

Kinokuniya-200Speaking of the Emporium Centre in Bangkok, there we also found the largest selection of English language books we have come across in Thailand - in Kinokuniya bookshop, right next to CD Warehouse on the 3rd floor of the shopping mall (not the store).

DSCN9948-200Back to food for our last item in this edition, and who doesn’t like English Pork Sausages?

Yorkies, owned by Yorkshire couple Norman and Eileen, produce these and many other traditional English meat products in their shop/eatery in Jomtien (down past the 2nd police box). Several of the smaller supermarkets also stock their products, e.g. Foodmart in Jomtien and Friendship.
