The pace of change in Pattaya seems to gather speed almost every day. We see new buildings start to appear all over the landscape, some replacing existing structures but many on previously undeveloped land.
Our roving photographer caught a selection of the latest developments.

This imposing structure on Beach Road will soon become of of Pattaya’s most prestige condominiums.

In the midst of South Pattaya this converted supermarket now houses the city’s largest computer centre with seven stories of shops devoted to all aspects of Information Technology (PC World eat your heart out).

Further down the Beach Road, a new shopping arcade is slowly taking shape.

But every Up has its Down and the current state of the Beach Road and it’s once pristine promenade is a case in point.

With access effectively blocked in all directions, this sign is of little help to anyone.

The on-going project to lay all telephone and electric cables underground shows little regard for the needs of pedestrians.

And it’s not much better on the road itself with huge construction holes like this all the way from North to South Pattaya.

If change in Pattaya seems to be accelerating, just over the hill to Jomtien it’s already at breakneck pace. On just a 10 minute walk from the Pattaya Otter’s den, we found many new structures being built. The following are just a small sample.

But again all this comes with a downside, for many years both sides of the road up the hill to Jomtien were adorned with these beautiful nurseries.
Overnight the one on the left side of the road was torn up leaving just this.
Which in due course will become yet another condominium dwelling as shown on this poster.
So how long before the remaining one goes the same way?

However from a personal standpoint, it’s not all negative. This rising condo block, currently at the 6th floor level and just across the road from said Otter’s den
