Vol 1, Edition 1, Spring 2005

A new name, a new format - our new motto - ‘Less waffle, more pictures’ - Welcome to the all new Pattaya Otter Pictorial.

But, unchanged our mission to bring you reports on Events, Places, People and News from Pattaya, Thailand.

Most of the featured stories will now be presented almost entirely in pictures. Each featured page will typically display a set of thumbnail (miniature) photos of the item being covered. On clicking any of these, a full size version of the image will then download but now in a separate window.

By clicking on the forward and back arrows in this new window, all the photos in the set can then be viewed full size, and when finished, clicking the Up arrow or closing the window will return the viewer to the thumbnail page without having to reload it.

This should considerably improve the viewing efficiency and hopefully make it easier for those still with low speed internet connections to browse our magazine without too many frustrating delays.

Technically interested viewers will notice that we have reverted to a fixed page size format. With pages now mostly filled with photos there seemed little point in continuing a style that only permitted text to be resized to fit the viewing window whilst at the same time imposed considerable design restrictions.

In deference however to viewers whose monitors for one reason or another are still set to a maximum 800 pixel wide display, we have restricted all page widths to fit this window width without having to scroll.

In conjunction with our change from a newspaper to more of a picture magazine, we will also be changing our publication frequency and now aim to produce each issue quarterly, but with special editions as and when the need arises.
