Welcome to the latest edition of The Pattaya Otter Pictorial.
Firstly may we apologise for the delay in producing this edition. Some of you may be aware that we have had serious computer problems. Hopefully these are now solved.
We hope you will feel that the wait has been worthwhile as in this bumper edition we publish reports from all parts of Thailand.
In the past month we have paid visits to the West of Thailand to visit the annual jazz festival at the seaside resort of Hua Hin, to the North of Thailand to tour the historic province of Chiang Mai and to the South of Thailand to see how the reconstruction in the Phuket areas is progressing following last December’s tsunami disaster there.
And Pattaya has not been forgotten as we look back at the annual mayhem of the Thai New Year (Songkran) festivities, plus many other reports of events that happened in this ever exciting city.
Because of the wealth of items here we have temporarily omitted our reader contribution features ‘It could only happen in’, ‘Why don’t they’ and ‘Geddit in’ but rest assured these will return - provided Thailand readers you send us you contributions (see ‘Contact Us’ for how to).
As before most of the featured stories are presented almost entirely in pictures. Each featured page will typically display a set of thumbnail (miniature) photos of the item being covered. On clicking any of these, a full size version of the image will then download but now in a separate window.
By clicking on the forward and back arrows in this new window, all the photos in the set can then be viewed full size, and when finished, clicking the Up arrow or closing the window will return the viewer to the thumbnail page without having to reload it.
This should considerably improve the viewing efficiency and hopefully make it easier for those still with low speed internet connections to browse our magazine without too many frustrating delays.
We have also taken account of the comments of some of our viewers with slower internet connections that they found several of the pages in the previous edition took a long time to download, particularly those with many ‘thumbnail’ images.
We have endeavoured to address this by reducing slightly the size and quality of these pictures but regrettably until everyone has a high speed connection this will remain a compromise between quality and speed.
